Jorge Felipe Nieto
Maastricht, Netherlands · 2016
I met Jorge in 2015, when we began our Master of Music studies at the Maastricht Conservatorium—trombone for him and piano for me. He was one of the first people I met there, and he remains a close friend to this day.
We created this photograph after experiencing one of our first snowfalls in the city. Although I have complete confidence in my colleague’s balance and circus-like abilities, the final image is actually a composite of two photographs; in the original setup, I was holding the other end of his instrument.
I wanted to keep this image in my portfolio because of its sentimental value, but also because it reflects Jorge’s composure, control and professionalism. He is an excellent musician and has always had a remarkably determined and committed personality.
