Celia Llacer Carbonell

I met Celia in 2018, when she conducted the orchestra for a performance of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G at the Auditorio de León, with me as the soloist.

Since then, her career has soared. By the time of writing in 2026, she had conducted at venues and festivals including the Verbier Festival and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. She is an outstanding professional and one of the kindest people you could meet.

When we created this portrait, I had only recently arrived in Madrid and had no lighting equipment whatsoever, so we improvised both the setup and the shooting conditions as we went along. But where there is a will, there is a way.
